Let’s have a look at some of the features of faux wood blinds.

Cleaning

Cleaning faux wood blinds is very easy.

  • How to Remove Dust

Dusting once a week can help keep your faux wood blinds looking beautiful and clean. Use a microfiber cloth or a feather duster. The brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner can work well too. Clean them while they’re closed, cleaning one side first and then the other. Once you’re done dusting them, run a dryer sheet over the slats. This helps repel dust and keeps it clean longer.

  • How to Clean Grime

Dust can get too caked on the slats making it difficult to get rid of by simply dusting it. At times like these, your blinds may need to be scrubbed. A teaspoon of mild detergent can be mixed in a bucket of warm water. Alternatively, you can also use some white vinegar, which is a natural cleaner. Then dip a fresh cloth into the slightly soapy water but wring most of it out. Close the blinds and start at a corner at the top and work your way down the blinds. Run the damp cloth on the blinds, one slat at a time. For stains which are extremely stubborn, a little more effort may be needed to scrub them. Once you’ve completed one side, flip the blind and repeat the process. Lastly, wipe both sides of the blinds with a dry cloth. Run a dryer sheet on the slats once it’s thoroughly dried.

  • How to Deep Clean

Blinds which are extremely dirty may need deep cleaning. Always remember to use a very gentle detergent or white vinegar to clean them. Bleach and household cleaners could damage the blind’s finish permanently. To deep clean them, remove the blinds from the window and lay them on a sheet. Use a vacuum to get rid of debris and loosen dust. The process used to clean up grime can be used here too. Dry the blinds thoroughly and re-hang them on the window. Also, run a dryer sheet once it’s completely dry.

Faux blinds can give you the most durable alternative to wooden blinds. They look great while also being an affordable option.
